Im vorletzten Beitrag ist ein Foto von diesem legendären St. Pauli Girl Bier zu sehen. Letztes Jahr habe ich bereits in San Francisco Werbung dafür gesehen, es aber nie probiert und mich gewundert, was es damit auf sich hat.
Schon komisch, drüben bekommt man das in jedem Liquor Store und die meisten Amis denken, dass es aus Hamburg kommt und auch hier ein sehr populäres Bier ist.
Auf der Flasche steht, dass das Bier in Bremen gebraut wird und ich habe auch letztes Jahr bereits vermutet, dass Beck’s da die Hände im Spiel hat.
Nachdem ich es nun dieses Jahr probiert habe (besser als US-Biere, aber nicht mit deutschem Beck’s zu vergleichen, Lager halt), wollte ich es mal genauer wissen und habe die Wikipedia befragt:
St. Pauli Girl ist ein von Beck & Co. gebrautes Bier der St. Pauli Brauerei, das ausschließlich in die Vereinigten Staaten exportiert wird.
Derzeit gibt es folgende Varianten:
- St. Pauli Girl Lager
- St. Pauli Girl Special Dark
- St. Pauli Non-Alcoholic Malt
Im Jahr 1965 wurde die Marke in ausgewählten Regionen eingeführt. Ab 1975 begann die landesweite Vermarktung. Mittlerweile ist St. Pauli Girl das zweitmeist verkaufte deutsche Bier in den Vereinigten Staaten. Seit 1982 wird jährlich ein „St. Pauli Girl“-Poster heraus gegeben, auf dem jedes Jahr ein neues Model zu sehen ist.

Das aktuelle Girl ist Irina Voronina, ein typisch deutsches Fräulein, zu sehen auf stpauligirl.com. Dort findet man auch die past girls, die scheinen ein gewisses Beute Schema zu haben…
So, haben wir wieder alle was gelernt. Eine Bezugsquelle habe ich bisher noch nicht in Hamburg gefunden.
